OMOS provides religious education classes for our Parish children in grades one through twelve who do not attend Catholic school. Our CCD program, is taught be a wonderful group of Catechists who take seriously their role to partner with parents to educate children about their Catholic faith and to prepare them for the sacraments of reconciliation, holy communion, and confirmation.
According to Sister M. Rosalia, Mission Helper of the Sacred Heart and author of Teaching Religion – The Adaptive Way, the forming of Christ in the child takes place through the union of knowledge, grace, and the child's response. She states, "Grace and to some degree nature, will bring about the desired response from the child whose parents fulfill their duty of guiding his formation as a Christian." OMOS holds this belief in high regard as it guides students in understanding and growing in their faith.
Catechism lessons are offered weekly to students in grades one through twelve, Classes are held on Monday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.. Classes begin in September and end in May. The class fee is $50.00 per child. To register your child, or for additional information, please contact the parish office at (814) 535-7646.
