Altoona Johnstown Cursillo
An organization in service to Christ. The word cursillo means short course. Cursillo
candidates are led by the Holy Spirit through a three-day retreat experience that
enriches their relationship to Christ and His Church.
Adult Catholic Experience (ACE)
Ongoing education for adults in the Catholic faith.
Christian Initiation of Adults
Team responsible for guiding the process by which adults are initiated into the
Roman Catholic community.
Home School Association
Organization of parent volunteers providing fundraising and hospitality for school
functions such as New Parent Social, Family Picnic at the Ridge, 2nd Grade Confession
Reception, 8th Grade Graduation Reception, Family Fun Night at Planet Ice, Covered
Dish Dinner, School Pizza Party, refreshments following school concerts, donuts
& coffee (2 per year) and funding for art projects.
Marriage Preparation
Diocesan Marriage preparation sessions are offered in various formats by parishioner
couples.
OMOS School
Established in 1946, Our Mother of Sorrows School has grown in stature and reputation
as one of the finest elementary schools in the region. OMOS prepares the leaders
of tomorrow with a well-rounded education firmly rooted in academic and spiritual
fundamentals. With an education rich in Christian teachings and lifelong values,
we provide an opportunity for children grades Pre-Kindergarten through eighth to
reach their full potential.
Serra Club of Cambria County
Group meets twice a month to foster and promote vocations to the priesthood and
religious life. Through prayer and encouragement, the group supports both seminarians
and ordained clergy.
Religious Education
Administration of all matters pertaining to Religious Education, Baptism, First
Confession, First Holy Communion, Confirmation, and Adult Education.
Religious Nurturing of Handicapped Persons
Members are parents of handicapped children whose goals are to prepare them for
the Sacraments and to nurture their spiritual lives.
Welcoming Ministry
Welcomes new parishioners, acclimating them to our community and inviting them to
participate in the life of the parish.
